The North Bend School District is pleased to announce David Hernandez as the new Director of Special Programs.  David is a long time district employee, first serving at Hillcrest Elementary as a Special Education teacher in 2013.  David has since worked as the Special Education teacher at North Bay Elementary, a District Behavior Interventionist, and most recently as a District Special Education Consultant.  David has experience leading district improvement initiatives surrounding special education, response to instruction (RTI), Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS), and Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) implementation.

David successfully practiced law for eight years prior to pursuing his career in education.  David holds a Bachelors in Psychology from the University of Oregon, and JD (Juris Doctor) from the University of Oregon, a Masters in Education in Elementary Education from Eastern Oregon University, and a Masters in Special Education from Southern Oregon University.  In his free time, David loves spending time outside, traveling, and cycling.  David has led multiple youth cycling clubs over the years, always seeking avenues to include some of our area’s most at-risk youth.

David is a life-long learner, keenly insightful when it comes to identifying the needs of our students, and has proven his dedication to students, families, and staff over and over again throughout his years serving the North Bend community.  David is yet another example of the exemplary individuals the North Bend superintendent and school board have selected to lead our great district.
